Is it like this for you?

I'll have an idea but it takes ages to mature and for me to actualize it.

Regarding building a brand, I was given the advice to 'build in public'. That it would help create community and make people feel included in the process. I loved the idea but in practice, I don't think my creative process is conducive to so much visibility. My creative process is so slow and underlying that sometimes it feels like I come up with 'finished' ideas out of thin air but really, the app of my creative brain has been running in the background the whole time. Also, it's not that exciting. For example, I see a design a like. I think about it. I see a color I like. I think about that. I see some things on Pinterest I like. I think about them. I know the product I'm trying to create but I'm not there yet. Then one day I just have to make it because all of the floating pieces in my head just clicked.

Here's what clicked for me recently:

I now have three skincare recipes I love and packaging I think suits them. All of these were designed with sensitive skin in mind (me!) but also with plants that can heal the skin. I have a Body Oil that's good for so many things; calluses, scars and just making your skin feel lovely in general. I also have a Body Salve that helped clear a rash I've had on the back of my hand for months. It has ginger, piñon pine and tea tree oil which are together anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. It also feels great on shaved legs since those can sometimes feel itchy too. The last thing is a small but mighty Face Oil that's toning and tightening.

I have a shopify page because I jumped the gun and printed my website on the labels. There is however, nothing there to buy. If you are interested, please email me and I can ship something to you or drop something off if you're local to Boulder.

Oh, and speaking of things coming together.

This all started 2 years ago when I was living in a mold-ridden condo and dealing with the health effects of that; one being horribly uncomfortable and itchy rashes. I told my partner, Mario, "I'm going to make something good out of this." A short time later I signed up for a community herbalism course. A year after that, I started experimenting with making skincare products. And now, two years later, I registered Something Good LLC. I'm doing business as 'the understory'... more on that later.

Here's to something good!

xx
